Responsibilities

  • Fill communion cups for Sunday services
  • Assist with Baptisms by presenting the Baptismal Candle
  • Visit sick and shut-ins and bring the Service of Holy Communion to them.
  • Periodically review the list of inactive members and make recommendations to the Church Council for further action.
  • Host a Soup and Bread Supper during Lent at the direction of the Fellowship Committee.
  • Help with distribution of holiday food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Meeting Schedule

Generally the second, but sometimes the third Sunday at 12:15 in the Fireside Room with a potluck lunch.

Objective

Perform duties as requested by the pastor(s) and by the duties spelled out in the Constitution and Bylaws. Fill communion cups for Sunday services and assist with Baptisms.

Constitution/Bylaws:

Bylaws Part VIII (3): …Assist the pastor(s) in the spiritual concerns of the congregation, looking after the sick and needy. See that the House of God is not diverted to any use contrary to its character. Seek out the inactive members of the congregation and use every laudable means to restore such to active participation and true loyalty with the Christian fellowship and to the life of the Church. Review periodically the members of the congregation and the respective participation of each member and recommend to the Congregation Council action concerning any members who have been inactive in relationship to Part II.4. (c) of the bylaws. Be responsible for all elements needed for the contribution to regular and special services.
